Competition Team

At Stages, our competition teams are like family. We focus on learning and growing together as dancers and individuals. By committing to the Competition Team, we believe it is one that will strengthen you as a dancer, a competitor and a person. The staff pushes each dancer to be the best that they can be in each class that the dancer is in. We strive for an environment that demands discipline, creativity, personal expression, commitment, and above all, fun!  Our Competition Team places emphasis on the word TEAM, so we all work together, learn together, laugh together, and grow up dancing together, making this feel more like family for both students and parents.

Placement on the Competition Team is by invitation only. Placement is based on the previous year’s behavior, attendance, work ethic, teacher recommendation, summer participation and passion for dance. Some years there will also be an audition process to place students in the correct classes. New students interested in joining please contact us to schedule a private audition.

Expectations for competition students:

• Mandatory attendance and punctuality- please let us know prior to class if you are going to be missing a class

• Bring all dance shoes to all classes

• Be dressed properly for each class- (leotard, tights, hair pulled back and out of face)

• Show respect for your teachers and teammates

• Strive to do your best each class

• Dancers are required to attend one dance convention a year with the studio

• HAVE FUN!

Competitions

All competitions are local or within an hour of the studio. We strive to get dates out as soon as possible to all dancers so that arrangements can be made to attend all competitions. Group dances are not like other sports, all dancers are essential to the choreography of the dance. Missing a dancer puts the class at a disadvantage. All dancers on the Competition Team are key members of the team. We ask that all dancers and families make attending the competitions a priority.
